This year, art has been on Friday afternoons for an hour. Many of the lessons that we've done as a class come from wonderful internet sites like this one: http://www.artprojectsforkids.org/ We're so grateful for all those clever, creative and generous teachers across the country who post their lessons/ideas. This Dot Monster art lesson came from another site, though I've seen it before in other places. We started by closing our eyes and making about 30 dots with a magic marker which we then had to connect to form one crazy, many-sided polygon. After that, each student turned their paper over and over to "see" where an interesting monster might be lurking. For some reason, many of our Dot Monsters had a decidedly piggy look to them!
