Ship Harbor

When we were all assembled, Ranger Mike and a couple volunteers began to talk to us about the tidal ecosystem, what causes tides, as well as things that we might see on our nature walk.
Our kids were huddled together like a pack of puppies, as usual.
Then Mr. Finn "volunteered" Brody to demonstrate the effects of the sun and moon on the tides. Brody was the earth, and two other kids were the sun and moon. The rain jacket is to emphasize the oceans and to get a visual representation of the bulge that is created due to the pull of the sun. Brody was a good sport, even when he had to wear a visor with the words EARTH on it.
