Art Lesson: Charcoal Shading
This is a lesson I've been doing with my classes for years and it never fails to amaze me how quickly kids catch on to the shading and controlled mess that is working with charcoal. We start by making three dimensional solids like cubes, pyramids and spheres, eventually moving on to making a vase using what we've learned. I was too busy giving feedback while the actually drawings were taking place, but here are some of the finished products. Impressive!
