Visiting Illustrator Mary Beth Owens

We are so fortunate here at Frenchboro School to be a part of the Island Readers and Writers program. This organization, led by Jan Coates, has been inspiring island children to follow in the footsteps of wonderful authors and illustrators such as Ashley Bryan, Chris Van Dusen, and Melissa Sweet, to name just a few. What an unbelievable opportunity for the students to meet and learn from these creative people. Our most recent visitor was Mary Beth Owens. Her new book, The Dump Man's Treasures, was read to the class and each student got their own signed copy of this beautiful, touching story. Not only did Mary Beth share her own books, she helped the students create their own books patterned after the constellations. A wonderful time was had by all!
