Memorial Day Traditions
For many years, it has been the tradition of Frenchboro School students to place flags on all the veterans graves. This year was no different. It's a special time to visit all the cemeteries, placing flags, but also to gather wildflowers and throw them into the water at the town dock, after a time of respectful silence. We even have a grave of an 'unknown soldier' here on the island. Especially when so many soldiers are currently overseas, it's especially poignant to remember the fallen.
