One wonderful practice that we began early on was to do research about the flag, it's history, and the rules that surround the treatment of this important symbol. Each student learned flag etiquette and we found that, since we do not have a light on our flag, we should take the flag down at night. Each student has a partner to share flag duty with, so they arrive at school, get the flag and put it up and also take it down, folding it the proper way to end with the iconic triangular bed of stars. Here are two students putting the flag up early on in the school year.
